speed racer sucks but that is my Appian an i am entitled to it

I loved how they didnt give a shit if people thought something was over the top or to weird.

like when the boss corporation guy in the valley or whatever, and they have speedlines type things while they attack and they move from character to character so effortessly.

much better then charles angles stupid fight scenes.

also did the chimp throw shit at the guys face was it something else?

yes he did

Is it really that good of a movie? I was thinking about getting it for DVD and I just wanted to make sure it was worth it. Apparently it was pretty good!

its artistic preference its not a commerically good movie but it is a piece of art

Well i have to say i liked it, it isnt the best movie ever but it served to entretain, the colors kind of reminded me of dick tracy, also it was very loyal to the cartoon wich I liked, and I think that this movie was very underrated and it deserved a bit more.

yeah I always thought it had great art but unlike most animes it doesnt make their characters look retarded

I guess I'll go zoom by the video shack and grab SpeedRacer

speed racer sucks, no matter wut

I can't say I have wanted to see this movie but I can see the spin you have put on it after studying media studies for a while. It may be a rental next week.

What happened to racing through a volcano or a forest with real world danger? That's what hooked me when I watched it as a kid. The movie was all shiny and overly cartoony. And what was with the stupid bubble things that saved people?

the difference between killing people in a cartoon or in live action is the difference of PG13 and R

Play SpeedRacer? Fwuuck thee speadReasssah! :l No really i don't find him amusing. At all Dead Space is ftw though....

speed racer?

I just saw that movie on my flight today. I thought it was awesome. I loved the races and how they could steer from any angle. All the special effects were awesome, whether it was a race or some day dream. The fight scenes were hilarious and even the corniness of family love conquers all wasn't so corny.

I haven't seen the original anime, but I figure if I did I'd hate it as it doesn't stay true to the original, as opposed to doing its own take on the story.

Anyways, I loved it.

This is you being sarcastic, right?
....right?

Always loved speed racer as a kid, but this pretty much threw it off a cliff and raped its eye sockets.

cant wait for the DragonBall live action

nope it was a fun movie, and the orginal show was goofy as shit, and the new DBZ looks like garbage lol

Is that an Alex Ross take on Speed Racer? I've seen his try at Gatchaman but Google image search is drawing a blank on this one.

NO it is not great so dont get it its a waste of munny

lol, munny

I thought Christina Ricci was good in it.

Everyone has their favorite movie that everyone else hates. Mine: Bulletproof

as for speedracer, i will watch it for free first, then it is as good as you say, i will buy it.

sadily I have to respond again,
I understand that the modelers and animators were the same from the matrix, and realism wasn't what they wanted, but you still have principles to follow in in 3d animation as well as 2d, and even though you may want to doge realism you need to folow these to give it the proper feel. Even with out realism you still have to have realistic qualites such as weight and constancy. defying gravity is one thing but sudden stops just don't happen. and in a move with such heave 3D over tones as this those small things make or break the animation.

Also btw incase you were wondering. I'm a 3D animator myself, and although I'm not an expert I do tend to know when things were done horrabily. so please becareful before assuming that I know nothing of the 3D world

You maybe a 3D animator but you are still a student, and these are professionals.
and Im pretty sure I can say these professional know more than I do and Definitely Most definitely, know more than you do, so I stand by my statement in that the animation and weight in this film was totally intentional, and you dont know what you are talkin about. Also the few stops you maybe referring to were intentional breaks that mimic the original show in a satyr fashion. Nothing in this 130 million dollar film, was unintentional.

as for assuming anything you are right, so I looked over your submissions, weight and flow of animation works for both 2D AND 3D animation, and if I had to judge your flash submission into this factor than I can truly say you know nothing about weight and consistency.

I also enjoyed the movie. The art direction for the movie was amazing. I can't fully recommend this movie to everybody because of three reasons.

The visual effects while beautiful and a motion artist lovers dream come true, might be too much for the general audience...I think it made some of the people in the audience nauseous. Its borderline sensory overload when you have endless surreal effects shots and heavy color saturation with over the top racing. Me, I personally liked the trippyness of it all but people watching where sayin' damn!

Second, kids came in to watch Mario Kart racing on the big screen, not a lessons in corporate corruption and evil industry manipulation. I was laughing at the people in the theater as the "big willy" gaves his dramatic explanation.

Third, it was a bit too long. I'm serious...some people will not be able to sit through the movie.

Overall I liked the movie and even saw it twice in the movies and own the DVD; I could actually see the layers and appreciate each composite while I was watching it. Effects artists know what I'm talking about.

Overall, a cool movie that pushed the boundaries of cinema, but not for everyone. Just geeks Like me who liked, Casshern.

Ya but Casshern was boring :-P haha yeah I know what you mean, but I have to say of all the 'artistic" pieces out there, at least this one had a semi coherent plot.

For instance I loved the approach for the movie UltraViolet, but I would never recommend that movie as it was simply boring.

ha ha
DBZ live movie will be UTTER SHIT

if it earns more than 75+ Million Revenue i will delete my NG account
