MindChamber's News

Happy Madness Day dudes, some pretty good submissions this year, which were your fav?
Sadly I have nothing to upload this year, but Im not giving up on my Old Madness divinity short just yet.
I want this submission to be twice as sketchy as Minds madness but to have twice the animation. after countless crashes and freezes, I thought there was alight at the end of the tunnel when Flash CC was released. Unfortunately its actually even buggier than Cs6, and now it even crashes my wacom driver. So Ive given up on flash completely. (well except for maybe making sprites) and have been putting my rainy day money towards my purchase of TVpaint. The price is a bit hefty, but the new 64bit version runs like a dream, and the raster based format means I can draw as sketchy and as messy as I want to without the worry of it blowing up due to useless vector computation. I still have another 1300 to go, but I have a feeling it will be worth it

In the meantime enjoy this really quick Attack animation of the MagHank model I made a few years back. This is the same model and pose I used for the MagHank image in my Art page

Happy Madness Day

Theres this sweet little animation software that's free now, and ya'll should try it.

Its raster based so it really feels like you're animating papertests.
Ive been using it to sketch out really rough animation ideas, then importing it into flash.. I think its awesome. It isnt as deep as Tvpaint, but its a good midlevel point for smaller stuff.

ZimDragonLord! Has sent me a really cool comic
"More Than Mortal"

I haven't heard of this comic, but I'm a huge fan of Image, so I can't wait to read it.

Thanks for the V-Day gift Bro! No-Homo!

I was gonna have a V-day cartoon for you guys, but meh, shit didnt align, (Stamper got busy, so no voice actor :/)
So I was bummed, but the comic cheered me up!
thanks again!

PS.Bakshi is pushing his kickstarter hard, dont let this flop!

PPS I also interviewed I-Smel

Thanks! Zimdragonlord!!

I usually don't promote kickstarters, but this is Ralph-fuckin-Bakshi.

If you ever wanted to widdle down my hugest inspirations and influences to one person. It would have to be him. He's pretty much the dude that turned animation into a story telling medium, that wasn't just kids stuff, but really adult stories, with adult humor.

He's Started the hardcore shit, the ruff and raw cartoons that reflected who he was and where he lived.
Jon K was HIS pupil. He broke many barriers and made some crazy ass movies.
Remember when Jazz from transformers sung the song Ahma N***ahman? Of course you don't...He made Movies you'd be afraid you'd get your ass kicked for going to.

Hes now making another movie, and he's using kickstarter to finish it up.

Help this old Fool out. cause he deserves it more than anyone.

So Im throwing myself out there. Who needs art for a half to fully completed game?
Possibly someone who would also want help with beta testing and tweaking.

But lets make it clear, Im not here to help design a game for you from the ground up. I'm looking to give a game that may not have the greatest art a decent Boost in the arts dept.

I want to reiterate I want to work on games that are either fully or semi completed. Not looking to work with a programmer with no real idea of what their game is only to be tossed through hoops of being micromanaged in the art dept because they are bored and wanna see me jump.

Serious inquires only.

Sorry guys,

Looks like I failed you again. I really thought I could pull it in and have it done by the 31st, but its just not gonna happen.

If I count the days I have easily 3 weeks of work left now. ( hurricane and not having power for a few days did hurt things, but it wasn't the main factor)

Main factor is Im working on two games at the same time at the moment, which wasn't happening when I made my Bold Deadline claim, so now Im doing about an hour of work on Madness D every day, but that's not as much as I wanted to.. So I guess I wont make a deadline claim again, but I will say its getting there for sure..

So In honor of my failure here is a picture of me in a homemade Cardboard Robocop custom I made over a decade ago.

Anybody Dressing up for Halloween? and if so what are you going as?

Happy Halloween, and NO Madness Divinity yet :/

I regret wasting my front page post on that robocop rant, but its probably for the best anyways since Im not finished with my Madness toon.
This is that same toon I backburned about 2 years ago. I blocked out of all Sept with the intention of finishing it, but of course life always has other plans. The only difference here from the last two years of not working on it I was able to knock a good chunk out, and I can actually see a light at the end of the tunnel.
The animation is about 90% complete. Id say 5 more days of animation, and all thats left is coloring and sound effects. Since Im going for the same rough look and style as with My Mind's Madness, I can say it would take 5 or 6 days tops to color.. So THIS WILL GET DONE, and IT WILL GET RELEASED ..

So to give myself a comfortable and realistic window, I'm aiming to release this Halloween.

So just to give some teasers, here are some of the differences between this one and Mind's Madness.
--This one is about 6 minutes. almost twice as long as MM
--MM was more of a music video, this one is more of an actual story, complete with its own musical score, composed by Krank. I sent him the script and the timing to each scene and he composed a score just for it. pretty awesome
--Even though its longer , it's slower paced. Doesn't mean there less animation though. Theres more, even with the downtime.
--Its more violent.. Hank is really stabby-stabby in this one.
-- theres another element to this short that I will leave as a suprise. it might piss people off some, but I find it cool as fuck. Im actually adding more animation to this particular scene in hopes of giving as much impact as possible.

So thats it from me.. I'm gonna take a break from animating now, and check out this years submissions. In the mean time check out a new screenshot.
Hanks getting a hammer to da gut. I will adding a bunch of filters and effects to video version as well.

Happy Madness Day 2012!

A really funny and astute retrospective on all the robocop Media thats come up over the years.
With the shitty reboot looming in the horizon, (see picture of horrible redesign below!) .. this a a good way to get up to speed on everything Robo So far.

play it while you draw!
